Christmas is coming before you know it, and it's time for some fun holiday classes.

These cards are part of the new Winter Foliage class (times/locations listed on the sidebar) featuring a wonderful collection of winter images by Penny Black.

This next image is from the Shades of White Class...a whole class incorporating texture, shine, and lots of subtle details to create a wonderful whitewashed winter wonderland.
You have to see this class sample board in person. I encourage you to head down one of the stores and check it out. The first class is full already, but I have scheduled additional classes.
Every now and then I just can't help myself. I have to get into the glitter. This Glitter Me Up class is a study in various kinds of glitter, and various ways to adhere that glitter to your project. Some the the projects have a subtle sparkle to them (like this one), and some will dazzle the eyes, but all of them will leave your sparkle-loving soul sighing with satisfaction. (Too cheesy? I know, but I don't care.)
You probably can't tell from this picture, but the black part of the butterfly is fuzzy black flocking. Why? It just makes me happy. :)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3673280078865435758.post-43105375037526151072012-08-30T11:38:00.001-07:002012-08-30T12:38:20.321-07:00Embossing Powder Transfer Class

I have scheduled another Embossing Powder Transfer class for Sept. 11th at Stampin' Cat Studio. I've updated some of the projects to have more of a fall theme. This class uses Embossing Powder as a transfer medium for Alcohol Ink. It is one of those classes that helps us relax and enjoy all of the magic of the creative process. This technique brings lot's of smiles, and a serious "wow" factor.
I just got the board up at Stampin' Cat for a new class called Embossing with Templates. This is one of 4 cards we will be making in that class. We will be embossing in a variety of ways, including dry embossing, heat embossing and paste embossing. This card features the Blazonry template by The Crafters Workshop.
The blazonry shapes were stamped with the Marquise stamp from Impression Obsession. I just got this stamp and I can tell that it is going to get lots and lots of use. The butterfly was made using the Wonderful Wings die set by Spellbinders.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3673280078865435758.post-78028086071522450992012-07-27T12:07:00.000-07:002012-07-27T12:07:37.392-07:00More Penny Black

This little interactive card is one of the cards we will be making in the All About Archival class coming up. This class is focused on learning some of the wonderful things that Ranger Archival Ink can do, but it also uses some wonderful stamps that I am excited to introduce you to. This card uses the Free Flight stamp set by Penny Black. The butterfly that is trapped under the acetate "inside" the cage is attached to a sliding piece of acetate that sets a butterfly free when you pull on the ribbon.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3673280078865435758.post-29580609157435224852012-06-01T19:56:00.000-07:002012-06-01T19:57:15.679-07:00Floral Frenzy - Dreamy

The background image is Delicate Pattern, which is one of my favorite backgrounds of all time. It is a really great one for resist techniques because the pattern isn't really solid. It's made of lots of tiny little lines, like the threads in a tapestry. Anyway, for this card I simply stamped it with Chrome Yellow Archival Ink.

The main image is Flamboyant. I just got this one, so this is it's inaugural project. :)

The lace that I put down the side was cut from an old dresser scarf that my aunt gave me. I stained it with Antique Linen Distress Stain to give it even more of a distressed feel.

I wish you could see this in person so that you could see the fabulous, shimmery look of the Clear Rock Candy Distress Stickles that I added over the stamped image. I just wasn't able to capture it with my camera. It's really pretty in real life though...guess you'll have to take my word for it. :)

So now...I'm waiting in anticipation of the reveal of more fabulous stamps by Penny Black...
I used lots of different colors of Distress Ink, primarily Victorian Velvet, Dried Marigold, Old Paper, and Frayed Burlap.

I tried something new with this card. First I created a soft background with Light and Bright Alcohol Inks.

Next, I laid down the butterfly masks and applied clear ink, then Frosted Crystal Embossing Antiquities powder. When embossed, this powder has a bumpy, matte look. I then applied Snow Cap paint dabber around the butterflies, and used the same paint to stamp a couple of designs in the two corners. The cool thing it, the paint just wipes off of the smooth areas, but sticks down in the grooves of the bumpy embossing powder.

On this card I started with glossy cardstock. I stamped a couple of designs with Archival ink, then masked the butterflies and began adding color to the background with Distress Ink. I used water, ink,and lots of different stamps to create the background. I used all of the same stamps and colors of Distress Ink as on the first card, but I also used the Old French Writing Background (Hero Arts).

And now, moving on to another project...

I had some scraps lying around from a previous project, so I thought I should try to put them to good use.

The stamp I used here is Balloon Ride by Hero Arts.

Sentiment is from Impression Obsession.

New class boards are up at Stampin' Cat now. The 10am class on March 17th is the Distress Markers class.
And now...a picture from the Reflections stamp class held on on Leap Day. We had so much fun with this technique, I just had to let these ladies show you their beautiful work.
I had never heard of the Card Patterns blog until I saw it on the Layers of Color blog. What a pleasant surprise. They have wonderful sketches and a really great design team. Here is the sketch for this week.
This is the card I made, you can click on the card to see the details a little better. My fun little branch embellishment was created with twigs from my Nandina plant. I added texture to some tissue paper using an embossing folder, then cut it into strips...wide ones and narrow ones. I used the narrow ones to create the bow on top and the tiny little "flowers" on the branches, then I added a little bit of Vintage Glass Glitter to the tips of the branches for a little sparkle. The texture on the paper in the background was created with a metal stencil.
We didn't receive the Reflections Stamp set in time to hold that class, so we will be rescheduling it for a different date. Thanks for understanding.

However, since we had so many people sign up for the Garden Wall Stamp Class, we decided to replace the Reflections class with a second Garden Wall Stamp Class. Good news for those of you who were put on the waiting list! :) In honor of that class, here is a little sneak peek at one of the cards we will be making in that class.
Unfortunately that's not likely to change very soon. My husband and I are in the midst of a job change/move, so things are just a little crazy right now.

I will continue to keep this updated with any classes that I have scheduled. I will not be doing a whole lot of classes though until we get the whole moving thing figured out.

Just yesterday I finished packing up my craft room into boxes. It was a huge job, and I'm glad that part of packing is done for now. Anyway the work continues...

Blessings to each of you,
ValondaUnknownnoreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3673280078865435758.post-59343183466083673672010-03-04T12:00:00.001-08:002010-03-04T12:07:05.529-08:00More Vintage FunI don't know what the deal is with me and the whole vintage thing right now, but I just can't help myself...Everything on this card was stamped using various colors of Adirondack Paint Dabbers. I've incorporated the "flowers" theme two ways. The most obvious...the giant layered flower...lol. I stamped the background with VersaMark Ink using the Dots and Flowers background stamp by Hero Arts. I used a Willow Paint Dabber by Ranger Industries to stamp the leaf (from the Scattered Leaves set by Hero Arts).

The Scripture verse sentiment comes from one of my favorite sets of all time, Scripture Essentials 1 by Cornish Heritage Farms.

Just using this verse today has encouraged me, I hope reading it has done the same for you.
Blessings...Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3673280078865435758.post-32699020910566592162010-02-06T12:32:00.001-08:002010-02-06T12:41:53.140-08:00Impression Obsession ChallengeThe Impression Obsession Blog hosts ongoing challenges, and since the current challenge (Shades of Green) spoke to me I decided to participate. This card uses the Small Leaf Wreath and Accent Border stamps from Impression Obsessions' Alesa Baker Designs. I also added that super cute butterfly sticker from the Fabulous line by Chatter Box as well as some other stickers that I have had in my stash for quite some time. I used Bamboo Leaves Memento Ink for all of my stamping and to brayer over the piece that I used to mat the leaf wreath image.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3673280078865435758.post-8942581027096939632010-01-19T15:41:00.000-08:002010-01-19T16:05:09.780-08:00Glittery FunAnother project to share from my weekend away. You had to know that the glitter would make it into my weekend bag...everyone was thrilled to see it of course...
This is my favorite glitter of all, Microfine Art Glitter. This stuff is so fine and delicate that it ends up everywhere, which is not a problem for me, but not everyone likes to walk around shiny. Ok, seriously, if you have never worked with this glitter you really need to get your hands on some. I rarely use my regular ultrafine glitters anymore because every time I look through the different colors, the microfines are the ones that jump out at me...the ones that I LOVE. The colors I used on this project were: Elfin, Iris, Winter White, and Fawn. The stamp is Garden Dragonfly by Holly Berry House. I wish that all of you could see it in person, because pictures just don't do justice to the beauty of these glitters.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3673280078865435758.post-70921325375269573602010-01-12T14:21:00.001-08:002010-01-12T14:47:52.511-08:00First projects of the year! Here it is...my very first project of the year! This one was dreamed up while I was driving from here to there one day, and I was just waiting for the right opportunity to give it a try. My opportunity came last weekend when I was privileged to go spend the weekend at the coast with some wonderfully talented friends. I can't even tell you how wonderful it was to have time to focus on creating some of those things that have been in my mind begging to be made...un-interrupted time...well...interrupted only by the occasional meal, snack or nap.

Anyway, for this project I stamped this Holly Berry House Medallion onto Ten Seconds Studios metal, then hand embossed portions of the design before cutting, layering it together, and sanding it to give it it's well-worn look. The background was created using a Fiskars Texture Plate and a Ten Seconds Studios mold. I have to say, I love Ten Seconds Studios more every time I use their products (and I used them a lot this weekend).

And now...my most anticipated project of the weekend. I have been planning to make a copper framed mirror for my sister for her birthday (hope she doesn't read this). So this was my chance. I antiqued the copper using Liver of Sulfer, then buffed, embossed, sanded, assembled...you get the idea. Three of the panels were embossed using Ten Seconds Studios molds, and the rest were embossed with Cuttlebug Embossing Folders. I love copper, and my sister loves it even more, so I am so excited to give this to her.

I have much more to share, but I have to re-photograph some of the items when the sun decides to shine again here in the Willamette Valley.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3673280078865435758.post-75367592575237447752009-08-27T13:38:00.001-07:002009-08-27T13:52:58.737-07:00Just a teaser Alright everyone. Huge thanks to those of you who signed up for this class sight unseen. The sample is now complete and will be in the store later today.

This Ten Seconds Studios Framed Mirror Class is based on a class created by Linda Brown for Craft Stamper Magazine. It's going to be a fun one! If you are signing up for this one be prepared for the class to go longer than the usual 2 hours.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2
